How Are We Different?
The Gundog Club offers comprehensive boarding for bird dogs and their owners. Unlike typical facilities with continuous and chaotic playtime on fake turf, we maintain discipline and meet the energy needs of working breeds, ensuring your training investment is preserved. With 40 acres to work with, even the pointers will be worn out.
Boarding is often seen as a break, but we see those few days as opportunities. Most kennels don’t train during brief stays as it is difficult to build an advanced working relationship in that period, and while we aren't different in that regard, halting all development is -by definition- fruitless. The Gundog Club addresses this by offering one-on-one conditioning sessions and enforcing basic obedience fundamentals. Unlike commercial facilities whose activities tend to lead to overstimulation and diluted training, we ensure discipline is maintained through structured activities.
Each day starts with an early morning airing and feeding. Continuity in training is important, and we enforce small but crucial habits like kennel and door manners, waiting to eat until told, etc. Dogs then receive another airing before heading out for the afternoon training sessions. In the evening, they are fed, watered, and put to bed, ready for the next day’s work.
What Does Membership Include?
For Dogs
Daily Routine
Dogs are aired 3x per day from climate controlled kennels. Exercise is on private grounds and water.
Nutrition
We feed the unbeatable combination of TLC dog food and Alpha Dog Nutrition supplements. All members can take advantage of this free of charge, but you are also certainly welcome to send your dog along with your preferred food.
Work
All dogs will be worked to make them just a little better every day. From "roading" (running at controlled speeds beside an ATV) to heeling sessions with a trainer, your dog will get the exercise needed to thrive, not plateau. Dogs that have been to us for training will also be right back in the fray, running our daily setups.
Transportation
We provide unlimited pick-up and drop-off for members within the greater Houston area. Our custom built trucks and trailers make transportation safe for your dog and convenient for your family.
For Owners
Land Access
On the weekends, our 40 acres, complete with a tech pond, is open to members for training. Take advantage of land and water specifically designed and constructed for training bird dogs, including prairie grasses for pointers and flushers, difficult angle entry lining for retrievers, and short-cut fields for puppies still going through yard work.
Training Events
We also host formal training days, creating a more realistic hunting and hunt test atmosphere. Dogs are far more likely to succeed in their job -whether that be picking up ducks or picking up ribbons- if they can work a similar environment beforehand.
How Does Transportation Work?
Just shoot us a message for your club member to be booked in for the duration you need, and a truck will be there on the day you choose, ready to get your pup into the action! Members may let us know any time up to one week ahead of their trip, and we will be there to load up and ship out. Last minute requests will be honored to the utmost degree possible, should the set routes allow.
